Human Rights

• Human Rights Watch is dedicated to protecting the human rights of people around the world. Human Rights Watch is an independent, nongovernmental organization, supported by contributions from private individuals and foundations worldwide. It accepts no government funds, directly or indirectly.
• The United Nations Office of the High Commissioner of Human Rights (OHCHR), a department of the United Nations Secretariat, is mandated to promote and protect the enjoyment and full realization, by all people, of all rights established in the Charter of the United Nations and in international human rights laws and treaties.
• Amnesty International (AI) is a worldwide movement of people who campaign for internationally recognized human rights.
  
  

Immigration, Refugees, Migrants, Inerrant,  and Internally Displaced Persons

• The Jesuit Refugee Service is an International (Roman) Catholic organization with a mission is to accompany, serve and defend the rights of refugees and forcibly displaced people.
• The United Nations Office of the High Commissioner of Refugees is mandated to lead and co-ordinate international action to protect refugees and resolve refugee problems worldwide. Its primary purpose is to safeguard the rights and well-being of refugees.
• Migrant Watch is a non-governmental organization and federation of migrants’ and migrants’ rights organizations, trade unions and faith-based groups within the various global regions promoting and defending the human rights of migrants.
• The National Network for Immigrant and Refugee Rights (NNIRR) is a national organization composed of local coalitions and immigrant, refugee, community, religious, civil rights and labor organizations and activists. It serves as a forum to share information and analysis, to educate communities and the general public, and to develop and coordinate plans of action on important immigrant and refugee issues.
  
  

Gay and Lesbian Rights

• The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) is America’s largest civil rights organization working to achieve gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) equality.
• The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) is dedicated to promoting and ensuring fair, accurate and inclusive representation of people and events in the media as a means of eliminating homophobia and discrimination based on gender identity and sexual orientation.
• The mission of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force is to build the grassroots power of the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) community.
  
  

Civil Rights

• The National Council of LaRaza (NCLR) is the largest national Hispanic civil rights and advocacy organization in the United States and works to improve opportunities for Hispanic Americans.
• The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) works to protect the rights given to Americans under the Bill of Rights, including: Free Speech, Association and Assembly, Equal Protection under the Law, Privacy, and Due Process, with special emphasis on seeing these rights are extended to segments of the population that have been traditionally denied them: Native Americans, people of color, the Gay and Lesbian Community, the poor, prisoners, and those mentally and physically disabled.
• The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) is internationally known for its tolerance education programs, its legal victories against white supremacists and its tracking of hate groups.
  
  

Fair and Equal Access to Housing

• The National Housing Trust preserves and revitalizes affordable apartments to better the quality of life for the families and elderly who live there. We believe preserving and safeguarding existing affordable homes is the essential first step in solving our nation's housing dilemma.
  
  

HIV & AIDS

• The National Association of People with AIDS is a non-profit membership organization that advocates on behalf of all people living with HIV and AIDS in order to end the pandemic and the human suffering caused by HIV/AIDS.
• The United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS brings together the efforts and resources of ten UN system organizations to the global AIDS response.
• AIDS Portal is an internet platform which provides tools to support global collaboration and knowledge sharing among new and existing networks of people responding to the AIDS epidemic.

• The Universal Health Care Action Networkworks to build, strengthen and connect organizations and coalitions in states and nationally that can effectively engage the public, policymakers and key constituencies to achieve affordable, quality health care for all.
  
  

Medicare Reform

• The Center for Medicare Advocacy, Inc. is a national non-profit, non-partisan organization that provides education, advocacy, and legal assistance to help older people and people with disabilities obtain Medicare and necessary health care.
  
  

Living Wage / Fair Minimum Wage

• Living Wage Resource Center, A division of ACORN, the national community organizing group, they work to increase minimum wage to acceptable standards in the US.

• The Death Penalty Information Center is a non-profit organization serving the media and the public with analysis and information on issues concerning capital punishment.
